We shared a smoke and he told me about always starting his day at noon by watching the soap opera, The Young and the Restless while eating a bowl of Cap’n Crunch breakfast cereal. I looked at my watch and noted the time because that was the exact moment when all my romantic ideas about living the blues were shattered.
